Kittitas Woes

I have reviewed a number of documents in the city of Kittitas recently and  I must say there are a number of troubling issues that have come to light.  First it was mentioned more than once in here but this is troubling for the city of Kittitas.  A city employee recieved a pay raise without council approval as per the official minutes of the city of Kittitas.  Then again thi s last year the same employee recieved another pay raise without council approval.  A contract with the Union specifically stated it did not represent 3 specific positions.  However the Union stated a salary they felt a position should recieve and that individual recieved the raise.  Again no council approval no contract negotiations to add the individual to the union just a mayor abusing his powers in my opinion.  Then the same position recieved an additional raise stating it was in the union contract but again this position under the contract the city was operating under with the union did not cover that position.

Then we have a city employee who has failed to read water meters at the same time each month and then failed to read meters at all the month of December.  How can the citizens trust their water bills will be accurate when being billed on a monthly basis.  Also during the election many city employees violated campaign laws by campaigning on city time and then shortly after the election one of the current mayors biggest supporters filed a complaint with the Union against the Mayor who they supported in the election.

Over the last year a city employee filed a false police report and took a council member to court for harrassment and was told by the judge the council member did nothing wrong.  It is amazing that the city has a couple of employees that have ruined at least my trust in the city.  Mr. Camarata is a stand up citizen while I didn't support him in the election he has my support considering he is slowly attacking the problems in this city.  I only hope that he continues to do what is needed and gets these employees in line or out the door.

Unfortunately Mr In Thoughtless, your views have been ostracized, and this will be another.

You have failed to recognize the numerous positive contributions the City has, and continues to contribute to the City. The City has taken on several tasks/projects in the coming years to better the City and it's residents, yet YOU, continue to find only the negative. Possibly We, the residents, are very fortunate not to have you representing the City?

It is palpable that you do not understand employement, employees, and job duties, let alone management and supervisions. One must have executed such tasks proficiently prior to being able to judge one!

Please refrain from assuming your responsiblity in employees, you have no such capacity.

In thought: If I could decide what happened every day; my house would be cleaned every 2 hours, my car washed every 2 hours, my sewer pipes cleaned every 2 weeks, my street plowed every time the temp was 32 degrees, my street paved, dinner ready every night..... ............quit compaining, you have no idea! Did I say, you have no idea!

Regards, Happy Resident

It is apparent that there must be truth in the posts that you will not deny. I do not fail to recognize the positive contributions that have occured in Kittitas but every citizen should understand the issues that are at hand in Kittitas and have yet to be resolved. You fail to deny any of the truths that have been spelled out in the posts regarding the employees so let me put them up again for you to deny by number. If you can deny them.
1. An employee gets a raise without council approval as per the minutes of the council meeting. (council sets compensation and benfits not the employees or mayor)
2. Same employee recieved pay raise without council approval by mayor signing employee into the union without council renegotiating the union contract to include the position.
3. same employee recieved another pay raise without council approval again contract does not include employee.
4. Water meters were read a week late in October. (if this had been the summer it could have put many residents over the limited amount of water costing more money).
5. Water meters were not read in December.
6. Council held council meetings open to the public at the city hall yet the city ordinance does not allow that.
7. A city employee filed a false police report for harrassment when no harrassment had taken place.
8. An employee wants to buy thousands of dollars of office furniture. (they and their significant are offering to pick it up in Seattle if they get paid mileage to do so. (what happened to buying local)
9. A city employee filed a complaint with the union against the mayor they supported in the election because the mayor stood up to the employee.

I have never stated that our few city employees should do more work than their jobs require. The problem is they cost the citizens more money. At least as I stated earlier Mr. Camarata is doing something about some of it and hopefully he gets things in line or gets rid of the problems. Please show me where I am wrong on any of the 9 statements I have laid out as you have not been able to do. Otherwise let the truth stand as it is. These are not complaints they are issues that need fixed. There are rules and regulations to follow however you seem content to allow them to be violated every chance just to aid a friend and not hold them accountable to the citizens.
